Malaysian Government seeks overseas Indian professionals

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said the government has recently expanded visa waiver for Indian nationals working outside their home country.

The Malaysian Government is stepping up efforts to attract skilled Indian professionals and entrepreneurs living around the world to come work in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is in Qatar for an official visit, said the government’s decision to expand visa waiver for Indian nationals working outside their home country is in line with this goal.

There are some 500,000 Indians working in Qatar today, forming nearly 25% of the country’s foreign workforce. This presents a huge opportunity for Malaysia, said Zahid.

Zahid added that he also hoped to discuss ways to rejuvenate bilateral trade between both countries, which had been adversely affected by plunging oil and gas prices in the last few years.
